The pictures show life in the British Isles in the 19th and early 20th century. On the surface it looked quite affluent but there were two levels of living, those who had and those who had not.
The magnificent Victorian buildings showing prosperity but down the ladder life was very hard for the poor.
There are Portfolios of Countryside Scenes, Edwardian Beach Scenes and Scottish Regiments.
Also a small collection of Matchbox Labels collected between 1940-1946 in India and Ceylon,other countries : U.S.A. Canada,South Africa,Australia.

The website is a new venture launched in May 2008 hoping to build a library of images of the British Isles. This project will be constantly evolving as images become available.
